Een schaduwplaag woedt door het land en transformeert onschuldige wezens in afgrijselijke monsters. Slechts één Kampioen kan de Duisternis verslaan: Niko. Gewapend met een magisch zwaard en bijgestaan door een vastberaden prinses, reist jonge Niko af naar de Vervloekte Vulkaan.
