Is there an overview of all manufacturing processes? Not so. That is why I have made my own overview in the book. It lists all conventional and non-conventional production processes. The book contains 100 illustrations, which clarify processes and/or methods. Because it is impossible to describe every production process in detail, the book contains 130 links to explanatory YouTube videos. This makes it a "gateway" to manufacturing knowledge. The book also pays attention to the assemblage aspect (DFA). This is especially important for 'OEMs' and 'system suppliers.' The content of this book is based on DfM and DFA workshops and provides insight into the production aspect of the design. More than 70% of the final cost of the product is determined during the design phase. Engineers have very little leeway for cost reduction once the design has been established. DfM allows us to select a focus area for the design so that product objectives can be achieved. Design for Manufacturing, in particular, helps to simplify designs and reduce production costs, which usually make up the majority of investments for a company. With this book, finding the right QLTC balance in a design is the goal.
